Well you sure are persistent. It does look better. A better exposure to start would have helped as well I think.
The only reason I was not too thrilled at all with the first shot was because everybody was doing high fives. When I look at images I compare them to guys like Art Morris, Liquidstone and many others at that level which includes members here. I was a member of a bird site that Art Morris frequented that also has many other categories including non-winged wildlife. That shot in the original post would have not stood a chance to get on the front page.
Maybe I should not be be doing this here but there nothing wrong with benchmarks I don't think. How do you improve without them? If I owned a $12,000 lens I would want to be hitting that level of shot.
I just came across another thread at FM. A 1DX owner shot with his 7D2 with basically the same settings he uses on his 1DX. He had 8 keepers out of 400 shots. Is this person legit or trolling? Is there a problem or is there just a drop in peoples skill levels? I'm going on a road trip soon and I'm deciding whether to leave to the 7D2 at home. I really want to take it but I have to trust it. Finally some sun this week so I'll see. I have not read the whole post at FM yet.
Hey boss, that person is me. It's definately not a skill problem nor am I trolling. I can post examples of both if you desire.
I have sent the first one back to Adorama and will receive a second one tomorrow. It will be set up just like my 1Dx for all common settings, just as the first one was. We'll then see what happens.
