You are absolutely right.
I originally upgraded to the a7R because I thought it might be great for landscapes and architecture, but ran into adapter issues and camera limitations:
1. Adapter misalignment can ruin an image when doing extreme shifts in the TS-E lens. Here is a sample of the TS-E 24 II on the a7R. Notice how blurry the building is towards the top of the frame: https://www.flickr.com …rbo/14422817868/lightbox/
2. I have terrible issues with internal reflections with my adapters - both my Metabones III and IV produce the exact same unacceptable results from off-frame light sources.
3. AEB: I love rattling off 7-exposures on my 5D III. I've got my whole HDR setup mapped to C2 on the mode dial. It's fast and 7-exposures are generally plenty. AEB is way more limited on the a7R and I hate how it works - I hate having to lock my shutter button on the wired remote to get the thing to take the frames in rapid succession.
4. 11-bit compressed/lossy raw. We all know that an 8-bit jpeg has far less post-processing headroom than a 14-bit raw file. So, it follows that an 11-bit raw file also has less post-processing headroom. Make any significant curves adjustments to an 8-bit jpg and you'll get horrible posterization. And, coincidentally, I've had more posterization issues with a7 and a7R files than I have since I shot a Canon Rebel.
So, yeah, between my D810 and the (hopefully) upcoming high resolution Canon DSLR, I have no need for high resolution from the a7 platform. What I do still very much need, though, is a perfect walk-around FF camera. And that is the bleached a7hole that really shines for me.

LMFAO! The uncompressed RAW needs to be finally added. Im not sure what the hold up is from Sony on this aspect. Interesting observation on the extreme shift issue. I need to look at some of my images and see if i have over looked it.
