A few shots of Northern Bobwhites. I hear them much more often than I see them.

Wonderful set, especially like the first one of him calling from the barbed wire, very well done.

Favorably. The 100-400's clear advantage is in focus speed. It grabs focus more quickly in dimmer light. In brighter light the difference is less noticeable. I am hoping that the improved focus on the 7DII helps the Tamron some in this regard. However, the Tamron's images seem just as sharp. I know that tests show that the Tamron gets soft at the long end, but I typically stop down 2/3 stop, and the sharpness is fine. Finally, as I have said elsewhere, I could pull on the front element of the 100-400 all I wanted, and still couldn't get that additional 200mm. With birds, that extra length has made a real difference that more than makes up for any shortcomings. There are some great images in the Tamron 150-600 thread in the image archives.
