Geesh - I had forgotten to post my "duck" photo ... from earlier November - Ducks (Peking) in a row. That's as close as I could get, hope it counts ;-)a

With the 70-200 2.8 IS I

I should of slowed the shutter down more, but happy with the shot.

I think the prop blur is pretty good. At least it is not frozen. Nice capture. Those things are fast. Reminds me of a model car race I shot several years ago. Which Case# did you use for that.

This is wonderful series of photos - I have to assume you're shooting from a Tripod. Are you in a blind? I'm stumped as how you achieve this level of detail with the settings shown, as it blows away what I've been able to get with my 60D and that lens. Even the shots on your feed using the older camera are excellent

Clearly I need to pick up my game - or beg you to reveal how you're hiding that strobe unit from the wildlife....

Kevin

Wow, nice lens :-)

Surprised glass as nice and expensive as that needed as much adjustment, just shows the variability that can exist between copies of lenses and bodies.

Cheers
Gus

I missed this. I sent the 7D2 to Canon just to be sure the AF was functioning properly. They stated that they made some adjustment to AF system because it showed some front focusing, which confirms what I saw during the Dot Tune AF. The adjustment suggested by Dot tune (post Canon visit) was 5 or 6, but I went with 6, so the adjustment changed about 45% (using +5) from the original Dot Tune AF adjustment of +9. I also noticed that the 400 5.6 with 1.4x was withing the parameters of the maf (i.e. -20 to +20) where before it was not, so the adjustment seems to have tightened the "within spec" parameter. I will get a chance to try it out with some fishing Eagles tomorrow, hopefully they oblige me with some shots.

There's a good article on what you speak of (variability between lenses and camera bodies) by Lensrental, where they show how the "within specs" differences between the camera body and lenses can create havoc, which is when one should make Canon intervened and tighten up those "within specs" parameters. I agree and that is whey I sent the 7D2 to them, so that they could tighten the parameters. I also had them do this with the 1D4.

Funny enough, my initial AF adjustment with my 600II was also +11. I'll dial it down more firmly tomorrow and adjust for a 1.4x also.

I sent mine in to Canon for AF adjustment. (see comment above^^^^)

Kester Clark great photo's, absolutely stunning captures. I am another one of those trying to justify the mk II. After the glass I bought i HAVE to wait if I value my marriage. In the mean time I will continue to be happy (and I am) with my 7d.

You have to negotiate. :D
There must be something they want. Doesn't have to be financial. More share of the chores, nightly foot rubs, that one thing they wanted to try but you said no, whatever... :D
