If there's a better thread to put this in, maybe someone could post me a link?
Anyway, a couple thoughts/suggestions:
** When I'm on a page that has a list of threads (either in a forum, or on my new and followed page, etc) I'd like it if I could hover over the thread title and see a quick preview of what's in there -- like the first line or two of the first post. It seems to me that that's how it used to work, and I found it very handy - especially in the for sale section, but really anywhere where a thread has a confusing or non-descriptive thread title. Not a huge deal, but a lot of times a hover preview tells me all I need to know about whether or not I want to go into the thread.
** Search. It confuses me. I'm sure it's powerful and wonderful, but it's just a little too complicated/busy for my taste/ease of use. At a minimum I'd love to see a one-click "search this forum" option. So far, most times when I've gone to search for something I just decide it's not that important after all and instead just carry on with my life.
**Private Messages: There's a custom folder option that I thought was going to be really cool and give me a way of organizing some of my saved conversations, but when I created a folder to save some things I quickly learned that I can't move messages from the sent list. I'd like to be able to move those too, so I can keep a conversation together.
**Private messages II: I like that you can delete a sent message if the recipient hasn't seen it yet, but I'd like it better if I could edit a sent message if it hasn't been seen yet. Or if that's already an option, if I could figure out how to do it.
** I like the "like" button. But I'd like it even more I think, if it was one of those reputation systems where it keeps track of how many likes your posts get. And how about a "dislike" button - a forum can always use more fights amirite?
** I'm not sure I understand the "reply" button next to the "quote" button at the bottom right of posts, and I'm not sure other people do either. When I read through a thread it's not unusual to see a post that makes little or no sense and then I'll look closer and see that it says it's a "reply to post # xxxxx". Then to get some context for that post I have to click on the link and read the other post. It can make a thread disconnected and difficult to follow.
Anyway, none of this stuff are a big deal really. I like the new forum, but I think these things would make my experience a little better.
