I'm sort of hoping they announce one before I can sell my X-E1 and a7R... if it has better low light performance than the current crop then I'd very likely choose it over the a7S that I plan on getting...

According to the rumors, the X-Pro2 will have a 24MP APS-C sensor which means a 50% higher pixel density while the sensor size remains the same. I wouldn't get your hopes up too high regarding better high ISO performance. My prediction is that the A7S will still easily beat the X-Pro2 when it comes down to high ISO performance.

It's also rumored to employ a new type of sensor tech, I'll wait until it's out to make any judgements. I doubt it'll beat the a7S, but if it's as good as the 6D and has an EVF like the X-T1 plus an optical VF like the X100T, it'd be a really strong contender for me.

A new 24MP APS-C sensor delivering the same high ISO performance as a not so old 20MP fullframe sensor. On top of that, the 6D was also known for being one of the very best high ISO performers. To be honest, I don't see it happening. The X-Pro2 will have much smaller photosites than the 6D, so when comparing RAW files, I don't give the X-Pro2 much of a chance. You can't outrun physics.

The other 2 features (EVF like the X-T1 and OVF like the X100T) seem more realistic. ;-)a

Again, we'll see. There have been greater leaps in technology before. Also, the X-E1 isn't very far behind the a7R at ISO6400, it actually has less color noise, it's just the luminance noise is more obtrusive and harder to hide in post, the grain is larger.

Also, you'll probably inevitably find this post, but here's a comparison I did between the a7R and X-E1 ;)
