Aurora on the longest night

This show lasted about 30 minutes.
I was fortunate to step outside at about 9:15 pm as it was starting.

Spectacular shots! They start and stop so quickly.... I've seen them start, and before I get my gear out they dim down.

I got a couple from the 21st as well all the way down here in Montana. Nothing to write home about here though, just greens and a little motion low on the horizon and though a hole in the clouds. Was a big surprise to as well so was no where near prepared I had to set up on the roof of the truck with keys and stuff propped under the lens mount to get a little elevation. Only lasted about 15 mins or so......

Beautiful! I've seen only a tiny glimpse of Northern Lights way down here in Maryland. These are fascinating images!

Nice job. I spent 3 weeks in Yukon & Alaska in September with only 1 clear night to shoot NL. Need to come back for round 2
