Nice sunset shots!

Thank you Dave!

I think 'dreary' brings out the gothic in it Hokie. I'd love to get inside with a tall ladder for set up.
Jamganz tell us more about 3 shot blend please. Love the beach capture.

Thanks MedicineMan. I believe I shot -1, 0 and +1 on the 3 exposures and blended in Enfuse plugin in L/R.

Happy New Year All !!!

Very nice. I cant see the EXIF, I am going to guess is this about F8 at 3 seconds at 1600 ISO?

I think after blending, I added some processing in OnOne Perfect Effects...I think between the blending and that program the exif got stripped. One shot was 1/2500, one at 1/6400 and one at 1/1000. All at f5 400 iso.

Have had my 70D for a month or so now, but haven't had much opportunity to do any shooting in the light. Today the sun did come out finally. Since we don't have any ducks to shoot right now, my dog serves as my test subject. I can say that in AI Servo, this camera did seem to focus fine on the subject, as long as I could keep a focus point on her. She was pretty much in high gear in this shot. Photo taken with 70-300L.:-)

Bald Eagles have finally returned to my area, so I spent a couple hours on New Years Day freezing to death hoping to catch a few shots. Light was poor (as well as my PP skills) so lifting shadows and reducing noise left the eagle and hawk images soft, but they were all I got for my time in the cold. Sky got a little color at sunset, which gave me a decent silhouette on some Canadian geese flying in front of a contrail.

Lately I've been shooting everything except BIF with the Fuji X-T1. No way the Fuji is ever going to be close to the focus and tracking ability of the 70D, but I wish the 70D handled noise as well as the Fuji! After seeing some of Medicine Mans high ISO images with the 7D MkII, that might be the answer.

Great ones Jeff, certainly not an easy shot to make on the eagle.

Well, battery charged, and a few shots to try the camera out

1; Sigma 100-500, live view, manual focus, 1/200; f8; ISO 200

2: kit lens EF-S 18-55mm IS STM, live view, AF, 20s, f11, ISO 200

First impressions: I was pleasantly surprised by the image quality SOOC, quite an improvement on my 600D

AF performance in live view is vastly improved, almost instantaneous , even in the dark

Now off to read the manual

Wait a little bit more and you won't get your hands off it.
