Out with the Old, in with the New - Challenge #514

Thanks everyone for taking the time to enter.

Raphael, I love the lighting on your walking boots, together with the older pair lurking in the background.
Ohlook, nice example of old and new, I would like to see more of the kitchen.
Kevpugh, really like the composition and lighting - I am very jealous of your white wall as it would not stay white for more than 5 minutes in my house :-)
Teekay, again, like the lighting though not sure how many trucks they will sell covered in snow.
Finally Trumper, lovely frosty detail definately out with the old. Feel cold just looking at it.

So here's my top 3

1st place goes to Kevpugh - a wall that white deserves a prize :-)
2nd place goes to Raphael, seriously great lighting
3rd place OhLook, but I still want to see more of the kitchen

I'm not sure how far reaching this is, but here in the UK we have a saying that you hear very often before the New Year "Out with the Old, In with the New" So I want to see your take on this please.

You don't know what you're in for. It's pretty bad. I took "before" pictures this summer, when we thought we were going to find a contractor soon.

They certainly don't make them like they used to, OhLook!

Thanks Carolyn for hosting the challenge! Trust me, the house has all white walls and that is about the cleanest one! Nightmare!

I'll start the new challenge within an hour, one I think of a topic.

Thanks,
Kev

I found the topic tough, too. The hard part was thinking of a way to get the old and the new in the same frame. As you see, I ended up using a representation of the new. The actual new stuff isn't here yet.

Apologies for the belated reply.
Congratulations to all the participants and to Carolyn for hosting and judging this challenge.
Thank you for the second place, Carolyn.
The lighting on my picture was all natural: The boots are in a narrow corridor with a door to a bedroom in the left. The window of the bedroom, aligned with the door, spread the light of an overcast but bright sky.

A Happy New Year 2015 to all!
