I love my 1Ds3. One of my favorite bodies I've had.

Stood in front of one these twice now but never ended up buying them. Could end up missing the boat all together, so enjoy yours while you have it :-)

Just sold off my 5D II to buy a 1DsIII and have absolutely no reservations or regrets. The performance is great.

I have the ID III as well, so familiar with the operation, make the switch easier.

Guess it depends on what you need it for and how much you paid for it.

Not a mistake at all. I just picked up a nice used one 4 months ago amd in fact, my 5D iii is now sitting on the shelf not being used as much. Colours are really vibrant and low ISO results are very clean. I shoot lots of landscapes and macros and the 1Ds iii does the job. The camera is built like a Mack truck and if you do push the camera, files clean up very nicely. I have a 1DIV and the 1Ds iii and 1D IV make an amazing combination IMHO.

I have owned a 1Ds' since their beginning and a 1Ds3 for about eighteen months and am still impressed by it. I'm glad that I went with the 1Series and will probably buy a used 1Dx later this year. There is something about the 1Series files, build and feel that I love, I think that I'll stick with them until I move up to medium format digital.

I have a 6D and 7D that have done nothing but collect dust since my 1Ds3 arrived a few moths ago... not a mistake at all!

Under this Website's banner at the top of the Home page you will see "Reviews". The 1Ds iii review is listed in there under cameras.

Only mistake would be not buying it, I got mine a few months after they were released. I still use it for all my commercial work (landscape and architecture). Put over 10k frames through it every year and I'm very happy with it. Only problem I ever had was I dropped it onto frozen cobbles in January at the end of a shoot because my fingers were so cold, autofocus stopped working, sent it away, replaced a board and its back earning money.

Hope you have as much fun with it as I have.

BearSummer
