My wife and I took a late December road trip down to Florida. One of my main goals was to see the Burrowing Owls in Cape Coral. Weren't sure if they'd be there yet, but they were.

Thank you, it's well worth the trip. Could have spent our entire time in Florida right there and been pacified.

You found some! Good for you, and also congrats on finding them farther away than one foot in their burrows.

Thanks everyone.

It felt kinda weird hanging out in between people's homes to get photos of them. Never would have thought of this type of neighborhood environment for owls. But it seemed like the people around the town are used to it.

Great shots -- thank you for sharing. My 9-year-old just read the book "Hoot", which is about these owls. (good read, btw, even for adults. Carl Hiaasen is the author.) I will have to show her these shots tomorrow. She will love them!
