Hi, my name is Rob.
I am a full time fire safety officer, and have a part time cctv and electronic security business.
I was really into photography in the 70's and 80's,the last decent camera I had was a Canon A1,and loved it.
At present I just have a 10 mp point and shoot Pentax, but thinking of taking the plunge and getting a mid range dslr.
Any way , Hi all ,and hoping to learn some new stuff and hopefully help out if I can.
Regards, Rob.

Welcome, Rob!

You're already into digital, and I imagine the step into a dslr should go easy for you. I remember when I went to a dslr. I'd shot in the past with a Pentax K1000 fully manual film SLR. I couldn't believe that zoom lenses were now good, as they were not very good in the past; they're excellent today! I also couldn't believe that a lens could actually auto focus; they most certainly can, and very quickly. While I learned much about photography from my K1000, digital just makes the learning go so much faster and farther.

Welcome to POTN, enjoy, and have fun!

Used to love shopping in Comet, bought my first dvd player there when they were introduced, in fact, my first house was was filled with white goods from them. Shame bad management caused its collapse.
