I like the C17, nice light. The first one is too unsharp for my taste. I can't see what shutter speed you are using, you might try using a shorter one.

Michiel.

Very nice. I like the livery on the Emirates plane.

Thanks James. These were shot with a Nikon D300s and a NIKKOR 300mm f/4 that is razor sharp. That lens has me looking at Nikon.

Note on the A380 - I had just started putting my equipment together and Founders Plaza when I heard something big lifting off behind me. Swung around and luckily had the lens on the camera and just started rapid firing from the hip. Surprised that any of the shots were in focus!

I have never been to Founders Plaza - would a 70-200 on a 1.6 or 1.3 crop do me any good?

A 70-200mm would be marginal. Adding 1.4x would help a lot. I was using a 300mm with a 1.4x on a 1.5 crop, so (300 x 1.4) x 1.5 = 630mm equivalent and still had to crop all but the A380 shots - a 100mm would work with that beast.

With my Canon kit I usually use the EF 100-400mm.

Founders Plaza is on the North West corner of DFW, so your looking at the West runways. They are usually landing from the north, which puts the planes low , slow and closer to you as they approach. Friday they were doing to opposite, so I had the planes lifting off to my south, so they were higher and further away as they passed.
