Mast3rChi3f & basketballfreak, that landscape and the first sunrise are so brilliant!!! Both: perfect light & composition, gorgeous location. Did you guys use some ND filter in there?

That's exactly the situation here right now, too. Not sure what to do with these flat, gray skies. But for rubbish weather, that's pretty moody dramatic light you got! I'm a fan.

Is there anyone out there that has exchanged the 16 35mm f2.8L Mk2 for this new f4 IS lens? I see most are swapping from the 17-40, and few people have mentioned the mk1 version of the 16-35, but that one is known to be soft compared to the mk2, so it's not the comparison I need.
When I analyse all the shots I've taken, very few are at f2.8 on my 16-35 mk2, because I was never happy with edge and corner sharpness. It is also damn soft in the 20-35mm range IMHO, so detracts from being on the camera all the time. From all the pixel peeping tests people have done, the new f4 IS doesn't suffer from this issue, and I'm sorely tempted to swap before the cashback deadline closes.

Quite honestly, I never found the 16-35 2.8 II to be appreciably better than the 17-40 at anything except F2.8 so if you don't need the speed, the 16-35 f4 IS has the same benefits over both of the older lenses. If you don't need F2.8 I think you'd be thrilled with the 16-35 f4 IS.

As for the rebates, I wouldn't sweat getting in before the end of January if you're not ready. This lens was $1099 when it launched and the price only increased to $1199 when the rebate came out for it. Although there are occasionally good deals to be had with Canon rebates - especially around the holidays - most of it is just a smoke and mirrors game with retail prices + rebates settling around the same net price.
