Went up to wander the park over the holidays and to see what the winter migration was bringing to us. Not too much in the way of exotics, but I did get some fun time with several of the 'usual suspects'. The day was pretty overcast and drab, but still gave some nice opportunities:

An expectant Pintail drake:

Some little Black-capped Chickadees:

Very nice Eric. Try going to Edmond's pier I heard the Snowy owl is still there hiding in a boat. (Seriously) That is what Greg told me. And they are some awesome ducks there that I don't see in Juanita Bay.

Sorry about our crappy weather out at Reifel. Try Boundary Bay @ 72nd one day, the short ears and hawks are doing their thing.

Thanks All!

@NVM: I'll try again; we were pretty unimpressed the last time we were out that direction, though. May have been time of year? Or day? Or???

January isn't the best time, spring is much better. right now all you are going to see is water fowl, resident Sandhills, resident eagle, and they really load the feeders for small common birds. you pretty much captured what there is to see right now.

Oh, yeah; I know the residents there at Reifel (we were really there to get the M.I.L to see the Chickadees ;-)a ). I was referring to Boundary Bay...we didn't see ANYTHING when we finally wandered up there a few months back, except a single Harrier and a handful of Herons that we can see everywhere down here. You're not the only one to recommend Boundary Bay, but I don't know where everyone sees the stuff they say is up there.
