I suppose there is no support of AF confirm? That would be helpful.

For the Nikon version only, it appears. Similar to other Samyang lenses.

They recently released an AE version of their 35mm for Canon mount, I'd be surprised if all their lenses didn't start coming with that option soon.

In the meantime, it's really easy to install an AF confirmation chip onto any Samyang lens, and they only cost about $10 ;)

Will be watching this pretty closely. I've been wanting a 135L for a long time and if its turns out to be competitive optically, gotta see more than one review/test, I can probably live without AF for a lens that will be mostly used for portraiture.

it looks like it'll be on zeiss level, quite a bit better than the 135L based on MTF and comparison on that chinese site. Even on it's own, without the 135L comparison, the MTF looks top notch.

Cool. I didn't know they had a chipped version out. I bought a chip for mine, but my eyesight and dexterity are not up to the task of installing it. Getting old sux.

The AE version is more than just a chip, it's got an aperture system just like a normal EF lens, all done in the camera and records full exif ;)

As for installing your chip; they sell a tool to help you install it more easily, but I have no experience with it.

Another comparison with the Zeiss 135mm f1.8; http://lcap.tistory.com …m-f2-vs-Sony-ZA-135mm-f18 (external link)

This lens is shaping up to be a real winner :)

The corner crops highlight a fair bit more vignetting in the Samyang but very good sharpness and control of CA from that comparison. I wonder if the Zeiss was properly focussed in the first shot

They should compare it to the real ZEISS winner, being the ZE or ZF.2 Apo Sonnar T* 2/135 (external link), which is probably the best 135mm lens on the market today (for up to fullframe cameras).

It costs 4x as much... the reality is that even if the Samyang outperformed it, most people who were ready to drop over $2k on a MF lens are still going to do so, if only for the name on the lens ;)

Definitely looks like a winner :)

I've got other things on my short list ahead of it, but I'm definitely keeping an eye on it.

There is ALOT to ask for a 135 lens from somebody other than Canon. I just sold mine for $810. For $300 why wouldn't you want one of Canon's best lenses?

The ONLY thing that could top this would be a lens with IS/OS/VC. We know Tamron is more interested in zooms and macros and not primes.... Sigma is putting out some DARN good primes.

I think Sigma would make a good demand for a 135 F1.8 OS Art lens with optics similar to the 35/50/85 that the currently offer would be a stellar lens.... with OS :)

My entire hobby of gear lust has temporarily been shifted into overload. Please be patient while my mind tries to get back onto the road to recovery. We do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause....

Interesting lens, as others have pointed out though, the canon 135L is actually not that expensive in comparison and you get AF with that.

Also appears that the Canon lens is smaller.
