I am wanting to get into the prime lens' and I didn't know which one is the best bang for the buck. I currently have a Tamron 24-70 2.8, and although its ok, I'm not all that happy with it. Its great at the 50-70 range, but not real sharp below that.
So I was looking for something better for taking Family and Portrait shots. I also have a Tamron 70-200 2.8 that I love, but don't always have the room to use it.
Obvious choices are the 24, 35, 50, 85. I'm wanting really good glass, so I'm going to stick with Canon I think, although Sigma might be an option. I'm just not sure if I should go L or not. That may be a dumb question, but I've heard and seen good things from an 85 1.8, but in that case I could use my 70-200, and 85 might not work for a family group shot.
What do you find yourself using most, and what route would you recommend?
