Thank you kind sir!
I'm really looking forward to pairing this body with my 70-200 II for indoor sports. Swimming tomorrow will be the first real test. I'll also be using my 85 f1.8 which I did MFA the other evening and was surprised that it took +7 on that lens which is typically sharp on other bodies with no adjustments.
Will MFA the 70-200 if I get time before the meet or may do it on the fly (not recommended, I know!).

In my dreams, I own a 500 F/4L ii.... but I am determined to get the most out of this camera and my new 100-400ii. I'm excited about it. UPS should deliver it in a few hours.... they get here late.

Ah, but it's twice the weight and 3.5 times the price. I'm excited for you!

Annie,

Truth be told, I think the 7D2 and the 100-400ii will be all I need. It should be fun, learning to get the most out of the combo.

Pegaso and Lupo-Lobo, those are terrific shots.
Pegaso, the beak and eyes on that gull are crazy sharp, even on my Samsung S5 screen.

Kim, I dream of a 500 f4 as well. Can't wait to see your work with the 7dII and the 100-400II.

Wow what a page of images !!!
I've decided I'm going to sell a kidney=500 F4 IS II.
In the meantime something incredible happened today-the Sun came out !!!! I live in the Appalachians=lush/green but wet/cloudy/snowy/icy a huge part of the time this time of year....and spurrred on by JV I put the Tamron on the 7Dii.
Now don't get too excited, remember I'm still an amateur noob, but for around here it's the best I've done, plus this was no zoo bird, and I've been 'stalking' him (like I can get anywhere close without being spotted) for months, needless to say I was ecstatic-

Next is soft and the focus point nowhere near where I want it-

Maybe a little better but I didn't care-

Did you have to MFA the Big Tammy on the 7d2?

I haven't but you know I should JV....but at this point I can't tell completely if it needs it or not.
The shot from 20 feet of just his face tells me I'm OK and when I analyzed the flight shots in LR actually looking at the focus
points via the plug-in I can clearly see it is me, e.g. the focus points are behind the face, as in me not skillfully following the bird in flight.

That said I really need to sit down with someone who really knows MFA and go through the process with a mentor-problem is my nearest neighbor is a 30 minute drive and I don't think he could help me (but he could help me set up a moonshine still).

That said, I did run the 400DOii + 5Diii through Magic Lantern's Dot-tune...automatic simple easy peasy :) But I'm not holding my breath waiting on ML for the 7Dii :)

Maybe I just need to plan a trip to Iowa !!
