Peter, I was looking at that gimbal head as well, but it looks shiny. I'll be interested to see what you think of it. I have the Opteka GH-1 and am really pleased with mine. I have heard some aren't smooth in panning but mine is like butter.

I would really be interested in a sidekick style, I think Induro makes a nice one. I really love my Vanguard SBH300 ballhead and I hate taking it off to install the gimbal and vice-versa.

Gabe, I always love your Juncos! That cute little bird never gets enough love in the birding world but I very much enjoy them visiting my feeders.

^^^ Nice shots John!

It may not be the sharpest of them but the first cardinal is awesome. I'm really into bird action shots. In the winter not much action is going on, so I like taking shots of my Juncos since it's convenient and works well through the glass.
But it's funny how that works. There is pretty much only one branch on my "tree" that gives sharp images. Due to the angles of light going through other parts the double pane glass birds perching on other branches look soft.
So I'm pretty much set up to take photos when birds land on that particular branch :)

Stopped at an airstrip, to practice doing propeller motion at low shutter, taking everyone's advise. Tough stuff! I feel like I could have nailed it, but the heat haze on this strip is unrelenting, it was super hot despite it being in the 60's F outside. But hey, no VC, and got some propeller blur at 1/200s.

JM, crap? What? Looks super nice to me. I've never gotten to shoot anything like that and it makes me wish sometimes (rarely honestly) that I at least had access to a big city.

I know it looks nice on Flickr. I was saying for some reason when I pasted it on here to embed in the forum, it looked blurry and not sharp even though the photo is very sharp.

To ME the cardinal image is a perfect case where I don't even care nor think about perfect focus. The overall capture just puts those issue so far
back on the burner I can't see them :) The overall pose of the cardinal and the way JV got the light through the wings just captivates my eye.

Thick overcast(I want to buy some sunlight!!!) today but still caught a couple local Raptors.
It's amazing that Bald Eagles are becoming common in S.E. Michigan.

Spent sunrise to sunset shooting yesterday and I think I finally got this new copy dialed in with focus adjustments. Wish this hawk had perched somewhere with less branches and shadows but, still nice to shoot!
