I just replaced my 430 EXII & 580 EXII for a Jongnuo YN600EX-RT for the outstanding price/quality.
As I'm getting fascinated by better 3rd party flashes : is there also a COMPACT Jongnuo (or other) flash that blows the Canon away? :-D

sorry that the links don't go straight to the post or beginning of thread, the new format has hidden, or omitted that feature.

No I don't want bigger as I have bigger flashes, i'm just reconsidering my compact travel flash as the pre-flash beams and slow recycle time are getting annoying.

I read the old 220EX would be better (faster recycling + Infrared AF assistant light)
No disturbing pre-flash beams like the 270 EXII has, but you can't turn the head to bounce so you have shadows.

The 270 EXII can turn the head to bounce or for catchlights, but I doubt it's even powerfull enough to bounce :)

What would be best, an old 220 EX with double recycling time,AF assistant light,no bouncing capacity (and shadows)
Or keep my 270 EXII with bouncing capacity and preflash ?

That Voeloon 331EX can use either the LED lamp or pre pulse for af assist. Also it's about 1/2 the size of a 580ex... In addition it tilts.. And yes it's powerfull enough to bounce.. http://brianhurseyphotography.com …-331ex-speedlight-review/ (external link)

Between the two, I'd pick the 270EX II: it's more powerful (Edit: same actually), has a zoom and bounce head and can be used as a slave off camera. Best of all, you already have it :) I believe you can also disable the preflash from the camera menu, if that bothers you.

Side question since you have this flash already: how well does it handle bouncing off a white wall/ceiling in real conditions? By that I mean indoor, shooting 1-2 person a few meters away. I'm tempted to get that flash but I have a hard time figuring out how the specs translate in real usage. Thx.
