Gus - I am enjoying your little birdies. It appears they are all heavily cropped (75% missing vertically). Maybe consider indicating as such so we aren't wondering if it is the site's compression hindering detail. Enjoy the weekend.

Thanks gschlact.

Yes, all heavily cropped, sometimes I do remember to add a note that photo's have been cropped, sometimes I just forget. I do often also add what the ISO is, especially if it is high as the forum does not always report the correct settings for the 7DII.
I don't believe the site hinders detail in the least and there is always the flicker link to click on to see image prior to the forum uploading it.

Mostly any loss of detail, fuziness, lack of focus etc can be attributed to me.

Curious to know though how you determined that 75% was missing vertically as I had a look at the exif on flicker and can't see it?

Cheers
Gus

Maybe you could explain your thoughts on your comments. While the 70-300L is quite good I'm not able to shoot the raptor's and Owl's the way I do mammals and larger game like the Moose.
As for the 70-200L every photographer should have one period. the 70-200L and the 1.4III are used regular and is usually on my wife camera.
But all in all Im still short for the big birds and Owls 400mm + 1.4II + 1.6 crop much better Ya

The highest iso (8000) i've shot with this so far. Not quite the IQ as my 5d mk3 but a good improvement on the 7d Mki. Very happy with mine so far

Looking for subjects other than birds, animals, and sports. I am finding the 7D MKII to be a very good all around camera and I can get much more out of the RAW files in post than with my 50D. So here are a couple of more static subjects for your review. Enjoy! Comments welcomed and appreciated.

Answer: not seeing the detail left in the crop, I followed your images link to Flickr, then looked at available sizes, luckily you left Original as one of the choices, and it reported about 1400 (from memory) pixels long. (however, it might have been more like 1800 pixels which would mean that my quick math should have said about 66% cropped)
Make sense?

Well, this is definitely not the quality of one of Pondrader's fox photos. But something different anyway. Dance team photo from the last basketball game I shot.

Above, a fox is a fox!!!
OK I've been plying the 400DOii on the 7Dii and mostly with the cTC1.4, an example, then one with the cTC2.0-

Even if I could afford a Canon 800mm I couldn't lift it :( Regardless I'm pleased with the 7Dii and the lens primarily chosen for it-
