Boulder River and "Feature Show" Falls!

Here are two shots that I got this afternoon on a quick hike.
Which angle do you like the best?

1. This is a 3-shot vertical panorama of Feature Show Falls as it drops down into the Boulder River below.

I like the second one. The split falls in the first shot confuses me. It's just one man's opinion. Both are nice shots.

Confuses you? How can the natural flow of a natural waterfall confuse you?

I like both shots but if I had to pic one I'd take #2. However if #1 were cropped, where the left quarter of the image was taken out, #1 would be my choice.

I always feel like I'm looking at the wrong fork in the fall. Because of that I switch back and forth and never really enjoy the photo. Not everyone will feel that way.

The second photo just pleases me.

Of these two, I prefer the second. I don't know if it is possible, but could the second shot have been done vertically, showing the entire falls and the river?

The falls in the upper left (what is missing from this shot) disappear behind trees. As I went to this side of the falls, the angle only allowed the bottom half of the falls to be shot. I wish I could've done a vertical here.

Both compositions are pretty nice. My personal preference is for the 2nd; the flow of the water pulls my view into the image more so than in the 1st (of course, I'm usually seeing things differently than a large number of others. LOL).

I like the first the most. My eyes start at the top of the falls and work my way down to wander around the rocks below. Very good shot! Good job. Although I'm wondering how they would look if taken with a big stopper at around 1 or 1 1/2 mins?

I actually should start using my big stopper more with waterfalls. I think that they lose a lot of data and crispness if using the big stopper though. There would be too much motion in the surrounding trees.

Learned something recently, with my Big Stopper. Just prior to pressing the shutter, put the viewfinder cover over the viewfinder. This will help to eliminate spurious random noise from entering the sensor during exposure.

Oh and this isn't the Boulder River in colorado by any chance? If so, I can remember swimming there when j was a teenager!

This is nice information to know. But that wouldn't help the moving trees during a long exposure. The tree movement isn't a big deal with only 2-5 second shots, but when the shots are over a minute...

Nope, this is the Boulder River in Washington State.

LOL...Yeah, moving trees with those longer exposures tends to make the image less spectacular!

I had one going back in October (4 minute exposure) and about 3:30 in, the wind picked up just enough to make the trees get all fuzzed up. Had to re-shoot and pray for no wind during the exposure...got lucky.
