Maybe it's been mentioned but how often are you using just solely a macro lens for any of these type of ring shots?

I Just use my Sigma 17-50 2.8. I don't like switching lenses and I keep the 50mm on my backup

I don't own a macro lens. I usually just zoom in and then I'll crop to taste. I have been known to use an extension tube on occasion though.

You don't own a macro lens and you're shooting weddings? I bought the Canon 100mm L series lens and now I use it a ton! Rings, details, even portraits. Go make the investment!

My Tamron 28-75 has "macro" capabilities but not nearly the same time of magnification that a true macro lens can attain.

*gasp* Shocking I know! Who'd'a thunk it was even possible?!?

I may give a macro another go someday. I may not. But I think this thread proves that one isn't really necessary to shoot weddings.

I shoot weddings and sold off my 100L. Just not worth it, imho.

I bought cheap tubes and never feel held back. I can put the tubes on almost as fast as I could change lenses, and I would already have a flash handy if I'm shooting indoors. With an unlimited budget, I would own a macro lens. But I have a LONG list of things to purchase before a macro lens.

I had to do a double take when I saw the blurred out background. :)
