Not sure. But output DR has nothing to do with input DR.

Input DR tells you how deep into the shadows you can capture detail (highlights are determined by the maximum well capacity and the ISO). Curves are then applied - either in camera or post-processing - to compress all 14-15 stops of input DR into whatever the output device - monitor, backlit transparency or print - can handle. So the fact that paper prints may only be able to handle 5 stops or so doesn't mean that you don't gain the benefit of any more than 5 stops of input DR.

I still believe there's a chance Canon's new megapixel body will have a Sony sensor, I find it's a big coincidence that Sony, Nikon and Canon will all be coming out with a 50+ sensor at really the same time.

To a new Sony camera... Seriously, I would guess that such a joint-venture would work both ways; that Canon's dual pixel thing would make its way into Sony cameras.

Sadly the rumor is totally false. I know it because nothing cool like that ever happens. Seriously though, it does seem a bit coincidental that we are getting strong rumors that Canon, Sony, and Nikon will all be coming out with 50+MP sensors. So, I really really really do hope it's all true...really.

I'm with you David. Man, I really hope this is true. I'll part with the 1Dx and upgrade to a two camera setup immediately. Possibly a 7DII for FPS stuff - sports, chasing kids, etc. and the new offering for my landscape work. I would love to have the higher MP for the 17 TS/E and Zeiss glass.

If this happens i would gladly pick up a canon...if its form factor is a small FF

Do you mean 'small' as in D810-sized rather than D4, or 'small' as in Rebel-sized?

I want something with a new and improved something cool!!
