I stopped to rescue a couple of abandon dogs on the side of the road near my house, a few minutes later a woman drove up who happens to run rescue shelter, she told me she just took in a Siberian Husky.
I lost my Malamute that I had for almost 15 years just a few months earlier so I was glad to add this dog to my collection of dogs that others discarded.

My pitbull mix Arcadia. Got her from the dog shelter about two days before New Years. Was abused by previous owners. Takes a long time to get her to feel comfortable but so far, she is doing great! A year and 8 months old.

Found Annie on a very busy road trying to cross, she actually did make it across but I had to do go a block to turn around to get her. she was about 1 year old, starving, maybe 25 pounds, had been abused. Has a deep scar across both front legs that went through the muscle (must have been tied with something that cut her). She is now 10 years old. Rott & shepherd mix. She sheds like crazy, has that double thick coat like a husky.

Mae, the beagle, is the only puppy I've ever had. I adopted her from a local pound at 8 weeks old. Our family has always adopted older dogs in general, I just saw her and couldn't stop myself from bringing her home. She had spinal issues early on and one surgery so far. She gets around just fine now.

Not pictured are Lacey, Logan and Rocky, which were also all rescues as well. They've since gone to the good life upstairs. This computer just doesn't have as many photos stored on it as I would like.

What a lovely heart you have - they are adorable. I commend everyone here for taking on these lost, unwanted & abused dogs. Apart from my family, there aren't too many humans I would trust, but my dogs have always shown me such loyalty & love beyond measure!:-):-):-):-):-)

I just feel very strongly about rescues and dogs in general. They tend to make us better people, or maybe it's just me. With the rescuing comes some behavior issues but most here are just separation anxiety. They are all just a bunch of characters.

All the rescue dogs I have taken in have been great dogs, besides the Husky I posted above we also have a stray that I took in about 5 years ago, a stray that I took in over 14 years ago and a blind and deaf double merle Australian shepherd that we got from a shelter 2 years ago. Last year we took in a stray that was pregnant that ended up having 13 puppies, luckily we were able to find good homes for all the puppies but unfortunately the mom died of pyometra despite us rushing her to the vet for emergency surgery, she never recovered from the surgery and died overnight despite the vets best efforts to keep her alive.
Here is one of the puppies.

Good on you modestglock26! I find that rescues are so grateful to be safe and loved, they seem to develop the sweetest personalities. As you said, most 'behavioural' problems are just from anxiety. I had an abused horse once, he turned into the safest and most loving ride I ever had- he trusted me so implicitly I could make him do almost anything.

Your photos really show their personality.

This is Willow, she was found wandering around the town of Cleburn, TX, Local Animal Control picked her up and called the local shelter. The shelter owner picked her up 15 minutes before she was to be killed.
We got her 5 months later, Best dog I ever owned.

The dogs life!

Our group Maltese Rescue California saved 290 dogs in 2014 and we are on our way to increase that total for 2015.

Sasha is a Rough Coated Jack Russell Terrier I couldn't part with; so we adopted her...
