Inspired by this thread, I tried to work on the colours in an old image.. I can't really tell if its looking to fake?
Upper left corner, the colors annoys me a bit there...

I've used levels for contrast and hue/saturation for the color change (with a mask over the guy and boy). Lens flare for effect.

What do you think?

Usually I'm indifferent to this kind of manipulation, but I really like this one.

Nice one! Like the tones but the flare might be a little too much :-)

so looking at a lot of these really nice images here, it seams most of you underexpose in camera to properly adjust in PS or LR? I always try and get it to look right (nice and bright) on the LCD but thats just me, probably not doing it right.
great stuff on here everyone :)

Sometimes I underexpose to prevent highlights to get blown out. That's way harder to save in post. But a fill flash or a reflector can of course do the job, if you have it with you.

thanks, I seem to have to lower highlights quite a bit in post in LR. Makes sense thank you :)
