77mm filter ring

I am looking to start my collection of various filters. I shoot Nikon, and my 80-200 and 50 are both 77mm, but have plastic threads. I am looking into B+W filters and to my understanding have brass threads. I know they make step down rings you can use. but i was looking for a metal mount that i could leave on my lenses, to receive my filters.

If my understanding is correct you are concerned about the brass filter threads wearing the plastic threads on your lenses. So you would essentially be looking for a permanent 77mm ring that would stay on your lens from which you would apply/remove your filters? I am not aware of any such adapter without glass but in a worst case scenario I guess the option of using a double threaded (front/back) UV filter exists. Then again, I used one plastic threaded lens for years...and years with brass threaded filters without issue and many high end lenses currently produced have plastic filter threads. Not really an issue I think.

thanks, yes that was my question. I have just read alot of people mention concern about cross threading and such when it comes to plastic threads. Ill give it a go!
