Love these wee birds!

This one hangs around a tidal stream.

Good shots don't just happen. Must have taken some effort to get that shot from near water level. Well done.

Keep 'em flying,

Thanks, I had to gain this birds trust before it would let me get within the required distance. After a "some time" it realised I was no threat. Great fun :-)

Love the first with the insect on its bill!

Wish we had those down here!

These are fantastic! I love the dipper too but rarely see one here. Where are you located? As someone else said you must have been right down at water level to get the action shots. That's a great water droplet!

Hi Annie,

I am located near Loch Ness but have visited the same burn up near Cape Wrath for a few years where I have photographed the same family of dippers, very possibly the same one. As far as water level, I was flat on my stomach crawling about for a few days. It's the only time I have ever got close to one. :-)

Oh, I'm not so far away from you over on the west coast - in Applecross. I might have to head up north to see some dippers then!

Wonderful captures, you must be very proud.

I love these little birds and would be delighted to see them in real life (and maybe get a shot).
