Interesting announcements yesterday...looks like the XXD line is probably done, and now rebels will have more MP than the 7D2. Very interesting moves by Canon, I guess when consumers were looking at 18 vs 24 mp on the Nikons it was hurting Canon too much.

I see that you've shot wildlife with both the 6D and 7Dmkii. Do you favor one or the other?

Great flickr stream btw. Wonderful photos!

When you look at these pictures, they absolutely shine in this topic like the fox pictures.
Then check the lens, it is 500mm F4. $10K lens. You expect it as soon as you see the pictures.
Like this example, when you see a stunning picture, 90% of the time either the lens is ultra good or body is 5DM3.
As I said, may be it is just the photographer who has enough experience to invest $10K for a lens.

OK, all 7D2 enthusiasts, help saving my $1300 with your posts.

I don't have the photographic skills or the experience with different types / brands of equipment that a lot of people posting to these forums have so from a novice point of view:

My initial introduction to DSLR photography was a T3i, 18-55 & 75-300 which happen to be some of the cheapest lens sold by Canon yet I've taken some of, what I consider, by best and sharpest shots with that kit. That kit has grown quite a bit but the number of good shots I get has not increased at the rate the thickness of my wallet has decreased.

I have the 7D mk2 and the purchase was dictated by price and where I wanted to take my photography.
6D meant better IQ than crop but at the expense of speed
7D2 meant speed at the loss of some IQ
5D3 combines speed and IQ but at a price I couldn't justify

Determine what features you don't have now that you would like and purchase accordingly.

Rod

1 own a 5D3 a 7D2 and have used the 6D a bit. Best all round camera is the 5D3, however there are bird shots I would have missed with the 5D3 but was able to get with the 7D2. The field of view of the 7D2 coupled with the very high frame rate is great for BIF and sports. I can't wait to shoot a race this summer with the 7D2. Two shots I would have missed with 5D3 below.

Simple. The birds moved too fast and I need a second burst to catch it. Would have gotten only one burst with my 5D3. My success rate on Bif is higher with my 7D2

You probably won't find that in this thread, at least no a lot of them. Someone may post one now that I have made this statement.

This camera excels for action, that is why there is so much wildlife. FF are better suited for landscape. Not that the 7D2 won't work well or produce wall hangers.
