...Bide your time. As soon as its replacement arrives, there'll be a veritable firesale on 1Dx's.

Mark my words.

1Dx is yesterday's technology. The 7DII already has better AF.

Agree. The price on my 5DM3 is dropping. I wanted to trade it in on the 5DM4, but it may not be worth anything then. At least it takes great pics, and still will when the 5DM4 comes out.

The 1D-X I received was a grey market unit. It was made for sale in Japan. I was able to verify this via Canon Professional Services (I'm a member). I have taken over 500 shots with it and its an awesome camera. Going to be hard to pick up my 5D III again after using this body. Where I see the real difference is in low light conditions and fast action sports. The frames per second is just crazy. I have no regrets with the grey market body and because I picked it up at such a reduced cost I was able to get what I really have been wanting for a while which is an EF 200-400mm f4 with the 1.4 extender. Bottom line is that I'm very happy that I bought it and the 1D-X + the EF 200-400mm f4 is proving to be a deadly combination.

Congratulations! Let me ask you, I am also a CPS member. I know that Canon has typically repaired grey market cameras but I am wondering whether they will still check and clean a grey market camera under my CPS membership. I like to send my stuff in annually to be cleaned and checked. Anyone know?

CPS has cleaned, checked and repaired my grey market 40D. Canon does reserve the right to refuse service on grey market but hasn't refused service that I know about. Nikon will NOT service grey market items. Hope that Canon doesn't follow the Nikon model.

Yes, CPS will repair/service the body no matter where it came from and I have that in an e-mail from them. They won't just won't honor the USA warranty rules and fix for free if it's a grey market model. Bottom line is you pay for anything from day one but they will take care of you. If the body is more than a year old it doesn't matter because we pay for everything anyway, USA warranty or not. Hope this helps.
