That's me also. I have about zero tolerance for the the sexualization of girls but both the dancer's costuming and your shot selection seem to me in good taste and not in the slightest way exploitative.

Thanks. I shoot these with a stylist/choreographer as well who's amazing. She's picks the clothes and poses. We review images on the fly and I usually make slight changes because what they normally do doesn't always translate onto the camera.

Amazing.

Thanks!

I think they are all great but #1 and #5 are my favorites. Also drooling over your studio space and lighting setup.

Thanks. I wish it was my studio. It's a rental I use but it's cheap at $25 an hour and I bring my own lights and backgrounds. I do wish it was a bit longer though. I can only shoot at about 70mm for full body.

Thanks Sir Quack and Fligi7 I appreciate your view points. I'm leaning towards Fligi7 on this one and don't see much wrong with them but perhaps that me.

I didn't know we could embed YouTube on here now! Here's a time lapse video I made of Avery's session.

That was GREAT!!!
Loved watching it. Thank you.

Thanks. It's a bit different than the normal angle you shoot that pose at but I like it.

Thank you that's high praise coming from you. I read your Rovelight review and looked at your dance images on your website. STUNNING. Something for me to strive for! I hope you participate more on POTN because your work is amazing.

One thing to watch out for, and this applies to any dancing photos, is the crotch shot. While I know this is an example of her ability to get full extension, it is just an uncomfortable photo. If she had something like her dance skirt covering the girl bits, it would be better. While I know the girls are not aware, I have been to several recitals and dances where I can see the single, older men who are there to get their jollies.
And I know this is for an application for a dance program and will likely not be out for public distribution, I just wish the girls would not display in that manner.
I guess as I age, I get a little more old fashioned.

I agree. I think the same extension could have been shown with a little different angle so that the crotch is no so in your face. the others are lovely shots.
