Did a search here and got zero results. So guessing the White-tailed Hawk has not been posted before. In the CONUS, only seen in SE Texas. The local birding lady, who conducts a weekly birding tour, first spotted them and was quite excited! They aggressively attacked a Harrier that came near and she thought maybe they had a nest in the area.
The image quality is fairly poor-they were not much more than a speck in the sky, so huge crops and lots of pp/sharpening just so you can tell the head from the tail;-)a.

I've never even heard of these Rog, so kudos to you for bringing them to our attention.
It's easy to tell that they are not hawks that I would normally see and I think your captures are wonderful evidence of their presence. Now go get some more!

Good for you, Rog! If memory serves, which is often doubtful, someone posted a hawk photo within, say, the last few months that they said was a northern harrier or something. I knew it was not and so looked it up and I think it was one of these. Anyway, congratulations on a great sighting.

Thank you all for looking in and your kind words. Have to admit, I was puffing my chest a bit here. Steve, don't know about getting more-I would have never spotted them on my own. Too far for these old eyes. But you can bet I'll keep glancing in that general direction. Al, gonna check into that post you mentioned.
Thanks again, everyone.

Not sure why, but I really like this image. The birds in the background were Snow Geese that just showed up very unexpectedly as I was tracking this male Harrier across the prairie. Harriers are tough birds to get good images of!

This might be the post they were talking about. Nice catch by the way. :-)
