colour balance has a lot to do with AF accuracy apparently (i'm told this by the clever guy who wrote FoCal (external link))

This lens blows me away every time I use it.

Not a picture from the lens.. but a picture listing my status on the naughty list... you guys gave me every reason to choose this lens over the Sigma 35Art (that and my finally acknowledging that going FF may be further down the line than my dreams say they are lol). Maybe I can get my children to cooperate for some cute Xmas style shots ;)

- had the camera in my bag on the way to a meeting
- used the 7D2 all week at hockey games, threw on the 18-35 to test it out
- 7D2, F8 @35mm, ISO1000, 1/50
- I micro adjusted all my lenses on my 7D2 - this one got (+4, +4) - it is razor sharp at F1.8

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

How are you guys dealing with this lens on a tripod? Makes the tripod very front heavy without using weights on the legs.

I've only had mine on a tripod for dialing in focus, but it's only in the neighborhood of a 6 ounce difference compared to other WA lenses. I think the weight concerns about the lens are overstated, but, regardless of that, I'm vigilant about any gear I put atop a tripod. As long as your tripod is sturdy enough for the total load, you suspend weight in the center for added stability, and you don't wander off leaving it unattended, you should be fine.

Did a long exposure with this lens. Even with 0.9 ND filter on, I am still able to recover the details through processing.
