A 1D Mark III can be had for about $1100-1200 on the used market. B&H even has a few minimum wear ones in stock, and I'm sure you could find them even cheaper by private sale if you're willing to take the risk.

I didn't quite pay $6000, I did buy it used but you would never guess that it was used. A local guy was selling whom has been a pro photographer for 30 yrs. the camera is in mint condition (not a scratch any where)and the best part about it is he had a wealth of knowledge so I was able to pick his brain for awhile.

He has always had his cameras cleaned by canon every few months or sooner depending on where he had to shoot, it has a low shutter count cause he has so many different canon bodies, I just couldn't pass this camera up!
