Anyone here shoot with a Phottix Luna collapsible BD? I bought one and have had it for over a month but haven't had time to try it yet.

Ok so another question, I took delivery of a Speedotron BD kit from B&H and now can't figure out how to mount it to my AB unit. I ordered a Kacey adapter but with no answer from the contact form on Kacey's site in over a week I think I'm going to look into other options and cancel my order instead.

So is DIY the only solution? (Any links would be great) or is there another manufacturer that will fit?

Thanks

i believe (it's been a while) if you remove the speedotron mount (3 screws) your AB unit might fit in the whole, failing that you can buy the LGSR speedring from Buff, remove the screws from it and you have the necessary insert for $29

Thanks for the suggestion! Turns out the same day I posted that question, got the email from Kacey about shipment so it's in my hands now. The adapter worked flawlessly when mated to the PCB strobe. Now to get to work putting it to use :D

flowrider,
Thank you!
It was pretty simple actually. My Daughter is standing on a small Ladder. I just clone stamped it out. Used Photoshop to move her left leg, because it was straight down on the Ladder. I photoshoped the Dress a little as well to get it up off her right leg. Lighting was just the BD to light her a little brighter than the sky. We were blessed with a nice moody sky. Ill post the original image tonight so you can see the before and after. Coloring was just a couple brushes in Lightroom.
Thanks

Toby

You guys have great shots with 1 BD. I'm new to lighting and have been shooting without flash indoor & natural lighting outdoor.

Can you explain to me why flash is needed for outdoor and how I go about setting one up to achieve these shots? Do i just need to get a BD or Mola Setti along with Ranger S/AB? Do I need anything to trigger this, or it is acting as a light source that is shining the subject?

Thank you for reading.

You already have a 480EX. Just pick up a set of cheep triggers. The Yongnuo YN622C triggers will do HSS, TTL, so you can play with that to see if you want to spend more in the future.
Check out the "single hot shoe flash" thread. There are some amazing shots in that thread with one Flash!

wait...do you even know what a Mola and Setti can and won't do?

What kind of photography do you want to do? portraits? Mola and Setti is overkill for that.

If you do high end commercial Beauty/fashion...yes the Mola or Setti are good tools if used correctly.
