I asked the question below under a another topic, got only one response.
Let me ask the same question to 16-35 owners.

I rented Tamron 24-70 and Canon 16-35 F4 IS for the weekend. I will buy one of them on Monday. I will use the lens on 5D M3. I have two crop bodies, 7D and 60D, I love my 17-55 F2.8 on them.

I tried both lenses in the house, I like both of them. I am not thinking about image quality or one extra stop when making a decision (All reviews say 16-35 has the best IQ in wide angle zooms). Rather, I am thinking about practicality of 16-35 focal range. Is 35 too short for street photography or for an all around lens?

As I said, I will use the lens for street photography, some architecture, mostly city life at bars, restaurants, streets etc.

It all boils down to your actual subjects and your personal taste. IMHO 35mm is kind of wide for street portraits but great for environmental portraits. The wide side of the 16-35 is better than the Tamron at 24 for buildings and larger landscapes, but can depend on your distance to subject.

I take the 16-35 and my 24-105 with 5D3 in an easy to carry shoulder bag and switch back and forth between lenses depending on the subject matter and my goals. For me, I want the larger range of coverage and on the long end I can get decent detail shots, say architectural details, from a reasonable distance.

If in your case you are limited to only one of the two, I think the 24-70 would be more versatile. I'm sure there will be other opinions. Good luck with your choice.

I also think the 24-70 would be more versatile for street and bars. Take a look at the 24-70 2.8 v1 before spending money on the Tammy. I shot with one last night and loved it. I have the old 28-70 and also love it.

I see that the Tamron is about 100$ more expensive at Adorama but here in Sweden the difference is 350$. I wonder why? I'm thinking about these two lenses too and at 350$ difference the price becomes an issue for me.

Great tones in this shot, especially the sky. Well done.

I bought this lens today. Here are a couple of shots taken near the store.
