Had an absolute blast covering the Harlem Globetrotters last night as they made an appearance here in Victoria. This was my first "basketball" of the season and boy, with the antics and passing they undertake, it was tough to get the timing down. I used my 1DX rigged with a 70-200f2.8L II and my 1D4 rigged with 16-35f2.8L for super wide stuff. The light was good as this was at our main hockey arena. Used a bit higher ISO on some as I wanted a good depth of field...was usually around 1/1000 or 1/800 on shutter....f4 or f5 give or take and ISO of 2500-4000? For some of the wide angle shots, I would pre-focus on mesh of net with back * feature and then just let play come to me! C&C appreciated. Excellent set, number four would be my favourite but they're all good. Number 8 looks to have much more noise than the rest.

Must have missed the shots in the next frames as this was the only one I kept in this sequence :(

Stunning work! I also noticed the noise in #8...did you forget to do noise reduction on that one?

Excellent photographs,
Bryan

Went back and had a peek. #8 was initially shot horizontally and was cropped to vertical....a fair bit, which probably explains the increased noise. NR was set to same as many other shots and in fact was more than on some.

Here is essentially the full frame image

Ahh, that makes sense. Well, outstanding work overall! I'm not able to offer much in the way of additional C&C. Hopefully some mor experienced sports shooters can offer up some additional advice.

Cheers,
Bryan
