I recently purchased a 7D Mark II, but opted to get the body without the lens. I wasn't keen on the additional $350 for a kit lens and would rather stick with lenses I can use on my 6D as well. Two weeks later I decided to sell off my remaining MFT gear that I bought for size/weight reasons and I will soon be ordering an SL1 refurb as a lightweight travel/motorcycling camera that I could afford to lose, damage, or have stolen without too much money being risked.

All of a sudden, this lens made more sense as my FF lenses kind of destroy the size/weight/risk reason for me getting the SL1. The photos posted in this thread helped me decide to go ahead and give it a shot instead of the kit 18-55mm or the 15-85mm. The 15-85mm is a great lens, had one before getting my 6D, but it is also a good bit more money and the extra reach of 135mm outweighs any slight IQ advantage of the 15-85mm for me.

Unfortunately, this lens isn't a kit option with the SL1 and Canon wants $440 for the 18-135mm STM as a refurb. Luckily, I was able to pick one of these up used off Craigslist for $250 with the Canon hood. No box, but excellent condition that you can't tell from new.

Now I just need to decide if I should get the refurb SL1 body only or pay the extra $50 for a 18-55mm STM that I probably would not use, but might be able to sell for a small profit and reduce my overall cost of a third camera (don't tell my wife!) ;)

Looking forward to adding to this thread!

I took photos of all my watches with this lens the other night. I was quite pleased with it.

Did you get that bokeh naturally at f/5.0? I never get shots with that narrow of dof with my lens!

What are your camera settings here especially the ISO? Is this image post processed? Thanks

The image is taken at iso 100 on a tripod. It's an HDR from 4 exposures of 61, 26, 15 and 4 seconds each, merged with Photomatix Pro, processed with Lihgtroom, Photoshop and Color Efex Pro 4 plugins ;)

here is what the images look like without processing :

Really a lot of work, but worth it ;)
