I'm new to this forum, I've been dabbling here and there in photography for a few years now but just recently have become a lot more into it. I love it and have just purchased this lens and cannot wait to use it! My friend is in Vegas right now and is bringing it home (to Canada) in 2 days! They don't even sell it where I live right now.
Anyways I have subscribed to this thread and will be posting some pics as soon as I get my hands on this new lens!

Welcome to POTN :)

Last night I shot a series of videos of my class preparing their projects and their presentations with the 10-18mm STM mounted on my 700D.

What I've seen of the unedited footage the videos are fantastic considering they were shot under fluorescent lighting. I needed to keep the shutter speed at 1/50sec to stop any flickering and ISO at 3200 with lens at full aperture.

Just loving this lens for video.

Thank you!
That's great to hear, I've heard nothing but good about this lens and what it can do. I currently have the 10-22mm which I will be selling as I don't see a need in having both!
I can't wait to get it and try it out! :)

What are you folks finding is the real-life effectiveness of the IS at 10mm? Is it an honest three stops?

The IS is the same as other STM's ... I've got shots at 1/2 perfectly sharp... so I guess considering the minimum shutter speed for 10mm on APS-C would be 1/15 , that's efectively 3 stops

What suprised me is doing a shot of 20 seconds on a gorillapod with the IS activated, and I saw the camera moving a little (wind + unstable terrain) , and the shot is perfectly sharp, so I guess it's handy for long-exposure with tripods without the risk of small trepidation due to wind or whatever...

I *need* this lens! I miss my 10-22mm (stolen a year ago) and this would fit the bill perfectly. Plus all these images are fantastic.

Just get it!

I shot this handheld @ 1/6 s thanks to the IS. Wouldn't have been able to do that with the 10-22
