The metabone are expensive because you can control the lens aperture and pass exif information to the camera. Its worth the investment.

You can do all that with my £70 Kaavie adapter. IS, AF, EXIF, Aperture Control, Comlite also gets good write ups

David - If you shoot landscapes and architecture mainly, and not fast moving stuff (like kids) then the A7R will be fine with EF lenses and manual focus. The only reason I added a 5D3 is becasue I needed fast AF for my 1 year old son. This is not a negative on the A7R, its a negative on my manual focus ability at speed.

For landscapes A7R and 24 TSE II is the dream combo IMO

Ah, I didn't realize you were outside the US. I envy you though, half my family is from Switzerland. I tried to get dual citizenship, but sadly to no avail :(

No it isn't, because you can do the same thing using the cheaper adapters now...

The Commlite I have is $100, it does every single function that the Metabones v4 does.

Does the Commlite adapter also pass the correct lens information (EXIF data)? Because on your Flickr page I can see that a lot of A7R images were supposedly taken with a 28-85mm F3.5-4.5 lens even though you used your 50mm Yashica. Could it be that this works fine for Canon EF and EF-S lenses since they have electrical contacts while the Yashica lenses don't?

I think that's why that would happen. Probably the same with the metabones with a yashika

My Yashica lenses have Canon adapters with "chips" on them, they're exif is always wrong, even from my Canon ;)

I just did a bunch of shooting today with my dad's L lenses, so I'll let you know how that worked out once I have them uploaded. AF is painfully slow (as reported by everyone with the metabones), but aperture and IS worked perfectly ;)

I'm pretty sure they all work pretty much the same. I had a Commlite for a while, but returned it due to internal reflections. I have the Fotga one now ($60), but no EF lenses to test it with, but it still has the same internal flare when using my MF lenses. After doing some research I've found that even the far more expensive Metabones adapter has the same internal flare issues, so regardless of which one you get you'll need to flock the inside of it.

Im so sorry, the adapter needed about 5 weeks to arrive, so i forgot about this thread. But yeah, worked out pretty well. Didnt even notice any flare or internal reflections..
