Ladies, we got some bad news today. Skip's tumor is growing back & has invaded his Pituitary gland & more of his optic area. The Radiologist is fearful that treatment may cause blindness, They are going to make a computerized mold of his head & see about telling the machines to shoot less radiation in those dangerous areas & more radiation to tumor matter. Right now we are in a bit of a crap shoot.

I truly wish the best for you and Skip, Maureen...hang in there.

I haven't been taking many photos lately, the weather hasn't been great and I have been uninspired. We did have a walk with some friends at the weekend in the mud, so a couple from that.

You may have noticed it was a group of dachshund-owning friends we were out with!!

It's great to get an update from you, Emma and I always enjoy the dachsund pics. :-D

They are so cute, Maureen! Makes me miss my grandchild even more. I especially like the 2nd one, I see what looks like a smile on her face when her brother kisses her, it's like she knows!:)

Those are lovely, Maureen.

I finally pulled the trigger on a 70-300L and I can't be happier. I took it out in the yard today and it handles like a dream!
I just can't believe how many more of my pictures are actually in focus now. :-D

Thanks for asking but my wrist is still so painful. I started Phyical Therapy on it last week, then Thursday I fell on it while trying to keep Tristan from running into the road. I was up most of the night with it last night; kept heat on it & broke down & took 2 pain pills which didn't help at all. Oh well, I still managed a photo shoot today & so far the shots look pretty good. The 20 month old freaked out so we went over to his Grandma's & just did some informal stuff which she should be happy with. They came out with darling expressions.

Stina!!!! Yay!!! You should be very happy with that lens. Your pictures look great!! If the weather cooperates, we are going to Monterrey Wed-Sat next week. I can't wait; not used to staying home for so long.

Thanks Maureen, I'm so happy to finally have it. :-D
I am sorry to hear you're still in pain, I sure hope you heal up soon. Hopefully you make it to Monterey and have a great time, it's always a lovely place to visit.

Here's a couple shots of wildflowers (weeds) around my house, taken with the new lens.

Nice stuff!!! I have been doing so many babies & kids I haven't had any time to just go out & shoot Nature; I picked up my camera with the 300mm lens on it + teleconverter & boy, my left wrist screeched in protest! :p :p It will take a bit of practice to hold that for any length of time again. unfortunately, my wrist will be quite painful for at least another 8 months (per my Ortho Doc) so I am mentally geared up for that. Don't like it but at least I am using it.

Congrats Stina on the new lens!!! You have gotten some great shots from it!!
Maureen, those baby shots a great!! The brown eyes on the second really did it for me!! ADORABLE!!!
We went out yesterday for a ride to try to find the other snowy owl and struck out. BUT we did come away with a few eagle shots. Not the best ones I have ever taken, but happy anyway.

This is quite heavily cropped:

Two adorable little ones, Maureen. Don't push it with the 300, give yourself the time to heal and stick with the baby shots. I have a feeling you're already pushing it enough. :)

It's a bummer you didn't find the snowy owl blinkeredfilly, but that's a lovely eagle. :)

Stina, geat shots. Seems like the new lens is working well!

Maureen, you really need to take it easy, now I don't mean do nothing, easy, I mean balance yourself, know your limits, but don't push them. Of course, it's easier said than done, that I know, LOL. I Still have my problems, but that's another discussion. :-)

Hi Ladies,
I got out of work a little early today and had a little bit of time to go out with my camera. This was the closest I have ever been allowed to get to the eagle. I spent about an hour with my camera fixed on this bird and was allowed to get pretty darn close, but 300mm is just never enough for these guys.
