What's the quick and dirty on this...which was shot first? Doesn't matter...? Aren't they both approx. 50% opacity...?

Portrait first
Normal exposure against clear background/sky
Nature second
Blown out like it's almost white, once you put the scenery onto your first picture (portrait) and halfpress the shutter you will see what becomes visible within the silouhette.

edit*
No they are not 50% opacity, the dark parts in my portrait will add darkness in the tree as you can see, and my face is pretty white and blown out, and if you look at the tree it's not as dark in my face.
If i would have turned the tree upside down, the top branches would have been darker (because of the dark t-shirt) and the base of the tree would have been lighter (because of my blown out face).

Here is another one of my son... you see the top branches that they are lighter, but at the bottom they are more rich with dark.

Thanks! I've really been digging the straight out of camera JPEG's in Classic Chrome mode. Then I basically just tweak a few things in lightroom. I'll drag the blacks up in RGB curve if I want to fade it, and then split tone slightly. Thats it though. The in camera JPEGs of this camera are amazing.

I just picked up an X100T yesterday. Here's my first shot with it. What a fantastic tool for street photography! I was amazed how differently people behaved when I was out shooting with this versus how they behave when I shove a 5D in their face, or even an E-M10 for that matter. It's like they just can't bring themselves to flip this camera the bird.

One of the biggest reasons I got this camera was for the film simulation. I've tried for ages to simulate film colours without much success, but with this shot it was a breeze: set the image to Classic Chrome, export the TIF from SilkyPix and adjust individual colour channel curves in Photoshop to finally get this look I've craved.
