Had breakfast with the Orangutans at Singapore zoo! Camera was a joy to use; this shot is SOOC, AI Servo, taken single handed whilst holding a very excited four year old!

Question ...Has anyone tried a 100-400L II with a kenko 1.4 pro 300 on the 7DmarkII?? My camera is telling me there is an error updating the firmware of the lens ?? and asks for the firmware on the card. Im not trying to update any firmware

Me again.

First, this maybe the stupid question of the day and someone might tell me to RTFineM but here goes
I have the camera set to center point only but shots taken in live view show more than one active point. Do I need to set the focus point again in live view?

I received a response from canon requesting pictures but I usually delete them. This was a big mistake on my part as I deleted the consecutive shots with the largest range of differences with regards to focus consistency. I did send pictures from the tamron and now they are requesting pictures from a canon lens - three objects in the usual staggered pattern. I set my cereal boxes with the farthest on the left and closest on the right. They have requested the reverse. Maybe I have a left handed camera ;-)a
They want the objects to fill as much of the frame as possible with no specification for distance??? That kills the 50x rule.

Rod

I'd need a rack of various tequilas to make me drool. I'm part German, Irish and French, among other ethnicities. I don't really know why I don't like wine or beer.

Very impressive shots, as are all your posted shots.

These pictures like most of your pictures isolate the subject very well through selective focus. While this is straight-forward technology, I am still amazed at how you can find interesting subjects so consistently with uncluttered backgrounds. If you have any tips for us on how you achieve this, it would be appreciated.

This particular family of birds (like most in tropics) respond very well to playback. So usually when walking trails I have a little bluetooth speaker and my iphone with me. A few seconds of playback of their song usually gets them to come investigate. After that, it's just a matter of waiting for them to pick the right perch with hopefully natural light falling on them.

From time to time, I also do setups with fruits used to attract the birds onto natural perches. That way I know exactly where the birds will land and can control what the background will look like.

Also, photoshop let's you remove distracting elements from the scene when things don't go as perfectly as you'd like or when the bird doesn't cooperate. I use the Content-aware fill, clone stamp, and patch tool as needed. So for the three above, the first and last ones are pretty much straight out of camera. There was out of focus circles of white light that I didn't like so I removed those. The second one had a very distracting clump of twigs on the left of the frame that I just removed with Content-aware.
