Anyone know of a reputable site giving a good price or package deal on a NEW 7dm2?

I was in a thread a long time ago where 70d was a great price and free printer and that kind of stuff... does one exist for the 7dm2?

friday bonus comes in and I need to spend it before wife gets to all of it!

also looking to do a 70-200 2.8 tamron - still gotta find one as I know there have been posts that a certain model tamron is just a tad shy from the canon mark 2 version....

thanks guys!

For the Canon 7D Mark II, I would watch www.CanonPriceWatch.com (external link) or utilize their excellent Street Price feature if you want one now.

Thanks to CanonPriceWatch and a little ingenuity on my part, I got a Canon 7D Mark II on the first day they came out for a final price of $1,266.14. You won't find that kind of deal right now, but you can usually save $100-$200 with CanonPriceWatch.

Cheers,
Bryan

HOLY COW! smokin deal.. hah.. nice score... I will watch there but with my bonus hitting the bank Friday and a wife where this is my 4th bonus check seems to spend it. I have yet to spend any of it as last year I tried getting the 70d and no go. So I pretty much gave up the hobby for now and hoping that she will see a new spark again.
heck im selling my ramsey patriot 15k winch for $1k plus got a 3% raise plus a 10% bonus... I think a camera and lens are in order. I was going to go Sony A77ii route but after the winch sale and finding out my bonus amount... im leaning towards the Canon (Sony isnt still out though)

Would be interested in learning about the ingenuity part. :-)

Me too!

Sorry for taking so long to respond. I was in Death Valley for the last 8 days on a photography trip and just returned back to civilization.

I took advantage of the special Canadian pre-order bundle that was offered about a month before the 7D MII was released. (I'm based in the US, it was open to US buyers that wanted to order from Camera Canada.)

I purchased the 7D MII & 24-70 f/4 combo for $2,094 (USD).
Lens sold for $875.
PayPal fees for lens were $25.68.
Shipping & Insurance when selling the lens was $21.46.
My final cost was $1,266.14 for a brand new Canon 7D Mark II.

I always look for deals when buying gear. As a matter of fact, with the exception of my RRS gear, every single piece of gear in my signature block was purchased with what I consider to be the best discount possible. Savvy photography enthusiasts can save thousands of dollars this way!

Cheers,
Bryan

You made a good deal but whoever gave you $875 for the lens wasn't to swift. Lens can be had
new from B&H for $783.99.

It's all about the timing! Bryan's referring to a deal that was available the week the 7D Mark II was released. At that time, the EF 24-70mm f/4L IS USM was still $999 MAP price. $875 for a BNIB lens in original retail packaging would have been a good deal at the time. (Especially considering the lens was $1499 price as recently as September, before the $500 price drop.)

Then, there was a $200 November mail-in rebate that took it down to $799 AR (MAP price), where it currently is today. The lens can be had in the $600s AR brand new today. (Timing is everything!)

Thanks PhotoPrice! As you so eloquently pointed out, it's all about the timing.

For everyone else, I've never tried to sell an item for the same price as a new one, even when the item was truly brand new such as the 24-70 f/4 when I sold it. I try to sell things for a discount relative to what B&H and Adorama sell for and I also take into account the even more amazing prices that you can find through CanonPriceWatch's Street Price program. In the end, I'm all about good deals and that includes passing on good deals to my fellow photographers.

Cheers,
Bryan
