The lighting, prop, and his expression are quite excellent, so is the background. Wonder if the leather chair and his wedding band were appropriate here? IMO, I think if he stood against that background it would have made for a stronger image :)

Haha thanks. The subject is an actor and we were putting a series of portraits together for his London agent. This one was just a fun pose for his Facebook! I have some British Special Forces shots utilising lots of cool gear but can't upload them yet as they're being submitted for commercial use.

I own a DSLR, some lenses and some lights.

I showed my wife some of the shots you've posted of your wife and asked if she would consider. SHE SAID YES... if she were that hot and popped me on the back of my head.

Great stuff Joey, very inspirational.

I agree with JakAHearts, looks great as is. If you can't move the subject further away pick up a 2nd speed light or a cheap two light kit and use at angles on the background.

Heres a couple of shots from a wedding back in November. I know everyone is sick of seeing pictures with backlit rain drops, but this was actually my first go at this type of picture.

Both shots have a 5 speedlight setup

#1 is fabulous. I love #2 as well, except I would crop it a bit. I just think there is too much "sky" on the top part of the shot. Both are great!
