WiscTim's post (https://photography-on-the.net …showthread.php?p=17451025) inspired me to dig out a few of mine. Caves are open again this year, but just for a week or so. These are from last season. Unlike Tim, I didn't get a sunny day, but still beautiful there. 3-4 mile walk from parking to the lake, another mile or so to the caves :-(

This one took LOTS of PS work to remove all the people:

All the people. Line went quite a way past the point in the distance:

Nice. I really wanted to go but was turned off by the number of people going. Was like 5400 just on Sunday.

Nice photos. Sorry I missed this post. I saw the part 2 but somehow missed this one.

I am truly impressed with your Photoshop skills. I waited more than five minutes in that cave for a relatively clear shot and this was the fewest people I could get.

The advantage of your cloudy day is that you took better interior shots looking out. I had to set Lightroom sliders at extreme points to get something salvageable.

If you get the chance it is a worthwhile trip. The main downside of the crowd was the long hike along the road from where we parked, but you can take a shuttle bus to reduce that. I thought I would not take many photos because of the crowds (I normally don't include people in my landscapes), but it actually had a fun "county fair" type of atmosphere despite the cold and long hike. It was fun to watch all the kids play in the ice holes and the people gave perspective to the size of the ice formations. You can also hike a half mile past the initial set of caves and leave most of the crowd behind.

Those are some crazy crowds! #2 is a great photo. I wonder if it would benefit from a black and white treatment.

Tim, it did take some work to remove the people. I waited over 30 minutes & got fewer than in yours. The ones I needed to remove were mostly inside the cave; if you stand there w/ your camera & look irritated long enough, some of them take the hint & will get out of the way for a quick shot or two. Again, it was bitter cold last year, and no shuttle, so that probably helped.

You are totally right about the "country fair" atmosphere. This couple was celebrating their anniversary w/ friends, & hauled the grille, food, & everything else you see out there! Again, there was no shuttle yet, so most of us walked 3-4 miles of road before we even got to the lake; they must have really wanted to celebrate!
