Was wondering if the zoom of the 70-200 would be beneficial to a toddler that's running around :P
Sure, having a zoom with IS convenient and beneficial, but having a lens that goes to f/2.0 also has its benefits, you just have to decide which is more important for you.
Speaking for myself, in general, the 135mm sees much more action than the 70-200mkII on the 5dc, especially when it comes to generic family shots, and usually paired with a 24-105 and an off camera flash as needed. Kids running around, I would much rather use a 50d + 24-70, for not only the improved AF, especially the noncenter points which are sensitive to f/2.8, but also the higher fps. This also gives me a more flexible range, i.e. I can get them close and far (cropping) compared to more medium and far with a 70-200.
In re: to people with "bad" copies of the 24-70 mkI. http://www.lensrentals.com …0/the-limits-of-variation. I have to agree with his findings, with my sample of 1, and had it and my 50 f/1.4 calibrated with my 5dc, both of which still need MFA on a 50d and 1d3.
