Since retiring from sports photography, I have sold off most of my equipment including a 7D and 300 f/2.8. all I have left is a 1D MKIII, 70-200 f/2.8, 24-70 f/2.8 and 580EXII flash.
These days, it seems to be a hassle to load everything up just to take family pics, or other stuff in general. I think my body is out of shape! It used to not be that way. The weight of the bag didn't really bother me. Now I seem to dread it.
I guess my question is what would be a good camera body for me? Or maybe, what would you do? I guess having video capabilities would be nice. I don't really want to spend over $500. Used or refurbished would be OK.
Note: I had a Rebel XT at one time, but thought it was too small and too slow. That was when the sports shooting bug bit me. I progressed along the trail to 20D, 30D...and a week later a 40D. I shot it a lot. Then came the 1D and I was in hog heaven. Later I added the 7D and liked it also. No complaints from either of those cameras.
Over the past three years, I have lost all track of the newer cameras that have come out. I am trying to do a little research and catch up.
For now, I am hanging on to the 1D. Drag races are coming to Houston in April.
Your thoughts and advice appreciated.
Thanks.
Mike
