The only thing I've bought on here was my 580 EX II. Had been looking for one for awhile. Henry's was listing them for over $600 Canadian. Most people in the forum are not willing to ship to Canada and would not even talk to me. Found one guy that was getting out of Canon and had good prices. Bonus for me was that he lived in Michigan, less than an hour away. I drove down, checked it out, and paid him $410 US for it, a Stofen, and some cheap batteries. He had bought it new, used it during his son's birth, and listed it online. Baby was about a week old. Customs charged me $50 to bring it into Canada.

My preference is a direct local sale, but I've also sold and bought a fair amount of expensive lenses here with no problems. I did stop one sale because the buyers responses didn't feel right to me. POTN has been a good marketplace for me.

Exactly. I've taken the full gear on bike rides, packed safely in a backpack, but it takes time to pull everything out to take a picture. And I don't always want to carry a backpack. Concert/sports venues often don't allow the cameras, or simply using a big camera is intrusive. Plus they are not fond of water. I'd like something that I can use in water.

On bike I have a bag that clips to the front handle bars so lugging it is quite easy. It's a little slow getting things out but very doable. Also saves the back.

Sounds like some made-up Texas thing to me. Anyway, most people would be like... "Snakes of three, climb a tree."

Are these in your yard? I would love to have snakes in mine, but my dog would probably eat them.

Yea, did some cleanup outside this weekend and under pretty much any leaf pile we moved, there were a couple. They are small and non-venomous.

Just checked on renting a Sony A7S (or R) locally, and it is $450 CAD per week. So, for two weeks rental, it is more than 1/3 the cost. I do get 3 days worth of rental credit towards the purchase though. Not a bad deal if I was just renting it for 3 days.

It would seem renting is not an option I am willing to entertain.

That's closer to 1/2. Quite a bit.

The new price here is $2,400 and $2,210 CAD, for the S and R respectively.

There may be a bit of a deal, but one week is $450, which is about $350 USD.

But I agree, it is kinda outrageous.

Tim, what were the rental costs on the 100-400 II? Locally they are $50/day, $37 for an additional day, $50 for a weekend, and $150/week. All in Canadian pesos of course.
