Not quite there yet. I felt like the light was still too harsh and probably not enough. Maybe it should have been closer I think.

Very best,

Very best,

Lovely shots :) Regarding harsh light: That's what you get with small light sources. I have the exact same modifier. Did you put the double diffusion + grid?

Heya,

Just the inner diffusion layer that evens out the light before it hits the outer modifier. I don't have a grid for it.
I think my main issue is that I was too far away perhaps, she kept moving and we had to keep moving the modifier so it wasn't optimally placed each time.
I definitely want a larger one, I'm thinking about a 36" octa one.

Very best,

Lighting: Two B800 strobes w/ 7" reflectors on background to blow it out, B800 with 2x3' softbox on model's right for fill, B1600 and 22" white beauty dish above and barely off-center for loop lighting, white collapsible reflector below for fill underneath chin. Oh, and white v-flat on model's left for more fill on that side.

Camera: 5DmarkIII and 135L

Nice shot but feels to me like something is lacking from the foreground. I would like to see the rock outcropping more prominently ie closer.

Thanks for your input! Composition was pretty tricky right at the top of a good drop wedged inbetween two rocky outcrops, there is a better composition to be had from around that spot, I've just got to find it!

How are you finding the Bessel strips? I have some but I'm not keen on them. The grids that come with them seem pretty mediocre and the diffusion material on mine at least put out a very cool tone which looks almost magenta by the time I've corrected the WB for the Rotalux.

I own a DSLR, some lenses and some lights.

Got rid of them and got rotalux strips (with the super expensive but very effective lighttools grids) instead. I also found the grid to be mediocre and more importantly I really need my modifiers to be foldable.
